The Hollies emergency, direct access homeless hostel for women is closing on 30 September 2011.
From 1 October 2011 LHC’s Women Sector Services will be remodelled to include a smaller emergency, direct access hostel, a small rapid move on service from the hostel and an increase in Tier 1 resettlement accommodation. The remodelled service will provide temporary accommodation for 61 women.
Oakdale House will be the new emergency, direct access hostel and will have short term accommodation for 10 women. The service will also have a single separate emergency direct access fully disabled accommodation unit based in the community.
The aim of the Oakdale House hostel service is to undertake a rapid and comprehensive assessment of housing and support needs and risk assessment so as to ensure a quick move on to more appropriate private rented, independent or Tier 1 & 2 resettlement accommodation. The maximum length of stay at Oakdale House will be 14 days with an emphasis on moving on within 5 working days. To facilitate this process the Women’s Sector Community Team will support a separate 28 - day rapid move on unit for 7 women whose support needs preclude them from moving on rapidly. The aim of this service is to accommodate women short term whilst more intense assessments are undertaken and appropriate specialist move on accommodation and support is sought.
In addition to the above the service will continue to have supported community accommodation in either shared houses or single units which are available for a maximum 6 month period on an assured short hold tenancy agreement.
Oakdale House Hostel will be staffed 24/7 by the hostel support team. They will receive their referrals from Leeds Housing Options Team and designated emergency out of hour’s services only.
The rapid move on service will receive referrals from Oakdale House only and will be managed by the Women’s Sector Community Team who will also manage the community properties. Referrals for community properties will be taken from all external agencies. This service will be staffed Monday – Friday 9am – 7pm and Saturdays 10am to 5.30pm. Emergency out of hour’s advice will be facilitated by the Oakdale House Night Team. Referrals to the community service will be accepted by fax or email.
