Dementia Café

T&Co provides a series of cafés serving tea, coffee, fancy buns and biscuits. The aim is to provide people who live in dementia, their carers and families an opportunity to gather in an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere and meet ohter people in similiar circumstances.

It is an opportunity to share ideas, experiences and feelings, meet other people and reduce social isolation. The cafés create the chance for people to discuss common problem and offer one another solutions.

Five cafés have been formed in Holmfirth, Heckmondwike, Cleckheaton, Dewsbury and Denby Dale. Each café runs monthly and provides a social outlet for people who live with dementia and their carers. The cafés are held in church halls and community centres and is a volunteer-led scheme.
