Sustain is a new floating support service developed by Leeds Housing Concern.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Sustain has been developed to offer support to people who have tenancies with Leeds City Council, RSL's, private and other landlords. Our remit is to support people who are experiencing drug and / or alcohol problems and whose tenancies are at risk due to this. Sustain provides short term, housing focused support to existing tenants, including single people, couples and families.

Sustain aims to assist problem drinkers and drug users where rent arrears, chaotic living conditions or neighbourhood disputes put their tenancies at risk. We will provide practical, non-judgemental specialist support, which is flexible to the individual's needs. We will work closely with specialist drug/alcohol treatment agencies and other appropriate support services in order to compliment the support we offer.

Offering this type of support to vulnerable drug / alcohol users brings many benefits not only to the individual but also to the wider community. By assisting to create some stability to people using the scheme we aim to see knock-on effects in terms of: reduction in rent arrears, reduction in anti-social behaviour, reduction in the number of abandoned properties and more sustainable communities.

SUPPORT SERVICES
All clients are allocated a key worker who maintains contact with the client and co-ordinates access to external services. The key worker co-ordinates each client's assessment and support plan and maintains links with other agencies. All staff are available to provide support when on duty. The service provides staff cover between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.

STAFF TEAM
Two project workers and a team leader staff the service.
The team leader reports to a designated Service Manager who is based at the Organisation's Central Office.

REFERRALS
The service will accept referrals from a wide variety of sources, both statutory and voluntary, within the Leeds area.
